In-house diagnostics make a difference
Through the recent IDEXX Suite Stories Contest, hundreds of veterinary
professionals shared their stories with us about how their in-clinic laboratory
makes a difference for their patients. One of those stories came from Mark Justice
of Double J Animal Hospital in Levelland, TX.
Dr. Justice wrote: "Hanna, Sundown, Rowdy, and Rudy. These names have no
story yet. But our clinic believes that by helping today, we can help relieve pain
and distress and improve upon tomorrow.
Being able to offer the highest quality and most efficient medicine is one of our
guiding principals. To aid in this, our practice attends a variety of CE courses
each year to be a better prepared family for those animals that are 'on their way in.'
Our clinic's goal is very simple. We aim to help reduce or alleviate those long,
dreadful hours or days that are often required for an accurate final diagnosis.
In-house clinical analysis is one of our most important tools that allow us to
accomplish this goal. We rely on courses, techniques and new technology each day
to offer the medicine and comfort that our patients and clients deserve.
Our practice serves a 300-mile radius, including patients such as elk,
companion animals, equine, camels, deer, avian and beef cattle. With this
variety of patients, we cannot approach our treatment goals without in-house
capabilities. To be able to confidently walk into an exam room, a rural ranch
setting, a client's home, or animal facility, and quickly explain the ‘what,
why, and next step' is the reason we do what we do.
We strive to not only relieve the ailments of our client's animals, but
to place honest, straightforward information as quickly as possible
into the owner's hands, minds and hearts. The better prepared we are as
a staff and clinic the quicker we are able to relieve and reassure.
Whether
our answers for clients come with a need for a tissue, a jump for joy,
a stomach-churning finding, another year with a best friend, or just an 'A-Ok,'
that is why we consider in-house laboratory testing such a must for our practice.
How has having an in-house laboratory made a difference in the lives of our
patients? It's simple. Just look in our records under Max, Rover, Tabby, Peanut
or Sasha. You will quickly see the difference it has made in not only these animals,
but the lives of the owners that care for those animals.
So here is to you Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Ellis, Mrs. Goodnight and Ms. Murphy.
We will have your answer momentarily."

diagnostics, visit www.suitestories.com

Streamlining your practice can help you save on taxes
Find out if you qualify this year!
On May 25, 2007, the Internal Revenue Code Section 179 expensing allowance for tax year 2007 was increased from
$112,000 to $125,000.* This allowance offers capital expense elections for qualifying purchases made in 2007, instead of
depreciation over several years.
Beyond the potential tax savings, there are three more reasons why you may want to invest in IDEXX VetLab® instruments now
for a greater return on investment.
| 1. |
In-clinic testing helps you provide better care for patients
and meet increasing client demand for immediate test results and diagnosis. |
| 2. |
New practice management software can enable data
integration across your practice for increased efficiency and enhanced patient care. |
| 3. |
In-clinic diagnostics help replace lost practice revenues from
clients who use online pharmacies when you increase your in-clinic laboratory income. |
