About porcine circoviruses
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is an economically important pathogen that has been associated with a broad range of clinical diseases including PCV2 systemic disease (PCV2-SD), respiratory and enteric disease, reproductive failure, and porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome. PCV2-SD and subclinical infections are highly prevalent worldwide.
Infection of pigs with porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is thought to be linked to porcine circovirus diseases-like scenarios.1 PCV3 has been identified in most pig-producing countries and retrospectives studies have shown that it has been circulating in swine populations for decades.
